The year 2007 at Scantraxx Recordz

This column was written by Stefan (History of Hardstyle) for Scantraxx’s April 2026 newsletter, published on April 2nd.

2007 wasn’t just another chapter for Scantraxx, it was a defining moment. While other labels were still shaping their identity, Scantraxx was already dominating the scene with a relentless stream of releases. Established names like Brennan Heart delivered hit after hit, while new talents like Wildstylez stepped into the spotlight for the very first time, hinting at the future of Hardstyle.
Success, however, came with its own challenge: too much high-quality music for one single label.

The answer was expansion. Sublabels evolved from side projects into essential platforms for artistic identity. A perfect example is Italian legend Davide Sonar, who launched his own imprint, Italian Hardstyle. Its debut release, featuring “Reactor” and “Beatz 4 U,” premiered by The Prophet at Defqon.1, immediately set the tone.

Brennan Heart also continued to push boundaries with his M!D!FY label, proving that Hardstyle could be both powerful and deeply emotional. His release “One Blade” in June 2007 became more than just a track, it turned into a milestone that still resonates today.

Meanwhile, A-Lusion stayed true to his signature sound, quietly delivering six tracks in one year, including “The 4 Elementz” and “Drummer Beat.” Not every release needed to be serious, though. DJ Duro, known as one half of Showtek, brought a playful twist with “Pak Een Punt” under an alias. A track that sits somewhere between parody and party anthem.

On the darker side of the spectrum, The Prophet and JDX joined forces as Black Identity to produce the Sensation Black 2007 anthem “Blckr Thn Blck,” capturing the raw energy and atmosphere of the event perfectly.

Then came a name that would soon become legendary: Seizure became Wildstylez. Under this new alias, he released “Life’z A Bitch” and “Missin’” on Scantraxx Reloaded. In hindsight, it’s hard to believe this was just the beginning of one of Hardstyle’s most influential careers.

And of course, there’s Headhunterz. Teaming up with Abject. Later known as Frontliner, they kicked off the year with “Scantraxx Rootz,” an unofficial anthem that still connects fans to the label today. Shortly after, his collaboration with The Prophet, “High Rollerz / Scar Ur Face,” brought their iconic Qlimax 2006 performance to life on record.

But Headhunterz was far from being done in 2007. On June 18, one of the biggest Hardstyle tracks ever was released: Rock Civilization. It remains one of the most played tracks at classic parties today. Premiered earlier that February at the Partyflock 5-year anniversary event at the GelreDome, I still remember standing there and hearing the iconic vocal: “Somewhere out there in the vast nothingness of spa-a-a-a…” for the first time.

2007 wasn’t just a strong year. It was a foundation. A year in which Scantraxx didn’t just follow the Hardstyle movement... it shaped it!

And if that wasn’t enough, 2008 was already around the corner… and Scantraxx had no intention of slowing down.
